DHS: Wants to Lift 30-Year Ban On Libyan Nationals to Work or Train in U.S. ‘Aviation Maintenance, Flight Operations, or Nuclear-related Fields’

One word comes to mind: Sabotage.  We are being set up by a government that ‘should have one purpose’ and one purpose only — protecting the American people.  Instead they are destroying us.

Yesterday, we published an article on DHS Security Adviser Mohamed Elibiary, that shouldn’t even be granted entry into our country, let alone reside in a key position of the Domestic Homeland Security (DHS).  Well now, the very same department wants to lift the 30 year ban that would bring in potential terrorists to work in “aviation maintenance, flight operations, or nuclear-related fields.”

[H/T CNS News]: A draft regulation by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would lift a 30-year-ban on Libyan nationals coming to the United States to work or train in “aviation maintenance, flight operations, or nuclear-related fields.”

The 11-page proposed rule was obtained by Reps. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah).

In a statement on his congressional website, Rep. Chaffetz said that the draft final regulation could take effect without prior notice and comment. The congressmen say the prohibition was put in place in the 1980s after the wave of terrorist incidents involving Libyans.

“The administration justifies lifting this ban by claiming that the United States’ relationship with Libya has been ‘normalized,’” the statement said.

But the congressmen also say, “the terror threat continues and numerous news reports document recent terror-related stories coming from Libya. And just over a year ago the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was attacked, which resulted in the death of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.”

The draft regulation is currently entitled, “Rescinding Suspension of Enrollment for Certain F and M Nonimmigrant Students from Libya and Third Country Nationals Acting on Behalf of Libyan Entities.”

In its summary, the proposed rule states: “The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is amending its regulations by rescinding the regulatory provisions promulgated in 1983 that terminated the nonimmigrant status and barred the granting of certain immigration benefits to Libyan nationals and foreign nationals acting on behalf of Libyan entities who are engaging in or seeking to obtain studies or training in aviation maintenance, flight operations, or nuclear-related fields.”

“The United States and the Government of Libya have normalized their relationship and most of the restrictions and sanctions imposed by the United States and the United Nations toward Libya have been lifted,” the rule reads. “Therefore, DHS, after consultation with the Department of State and the Department of Defense, is rescinding the restrictions that deny nonimmigrant status and benefits to a specific group of Libyan nationals.”

(AP)A House Judiciary Committee source said the document is an “internal draft regulation” and is not final yet, and was obtained by Reps. Chaffetz and Goodlatte. It is not known yet when DHS, formerly headed by Secretary Janet Napolitano — and now awaiting a new leader — will officially issue the regulation.

Libyan nationals who want to come to America to study aviation or nuclear science would have to undergo the “Visas Mantis” security clearance, reads the regulation, and be subject to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security-threat assessments.

Goodlatte, in a statement on Chaffetz’s website, said, “Just over a year ago, four Americans were killed in the pre-planned terrorist attacks on the American Consulate in Benghazi.  We still haven’t gotten to the bottom of the Benghazi terrorist attacks and continue to face additional terrorist threats from Libya, yet the Obama Administration is preparing to lift a longstanding ban that protects Americans and our interests.”

Chaffetz said, “It is unbelievable that this administration would again put Americans in harm’s way by lifting a decades old security ban on a country that has become a hotbed of terrorist activity. We must work with the Libyans to build mutual trust that ensures safety and prosperity for both countries to enjoy.”

Judicial Watch, a government watchdog organization based in Washington, D.C., commented, “It’s incomprehensible that the U.S. government is even considering reversing the longstanding policy banning Libyans from working or training in areas so crucial to national security.”

According to the 9/11 Commission Report, 4 of the 19 terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks received flight training at U.S. flight schools. Those terrorists were Hani Hanjour, Ziad Jarah, Mohammed Atta and Marwan al Shehhi.

A plethora of interesting segments from last Thursday’s House Oversight Committee hearing where Rep. Cynthia Lummis unleashed a series of pointed questions at Thomas Pickering, with ‘mixed results.’  Are we getting closer to the truth of Benghazi?

Walid Shoebat reported: Reps. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), and Jim Jordan (R-OH) may have stolen most of the headlines when it came to the House Oversight Committee hearing on September 19th but the most explosive questions may have come from Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).

While questioning Ambassador Thomas Pickering, Chairman of the Benghazi Accountability Review Board (ARB), Lummis asked two excellent questions. In answering the first, Pickering appeared to have divulged classified information. In answering the second question, Pickering’s testimony appeared to blatantly contradict the accounts of Benghazi survivors and witnesses.

As we have reported previously, Pickering was on-hand at the U.S.-Islamic World Forum (US-IWF) this past June. Guess who attended this forum in 2006 with the mother of Huma Abedin, Saleha Abedin. The answer may surprise you.

Speaking of the Abedin’s, there’s an interesting development in Egypt. A man who used to work for the Clintons has been arrested by the new Egyptian government for inciting murder. Gehad el-Haddad was an employee of the William J. Clinton Foundation and then went to Egypt, where he reportedly became the Chief of Staff to a prominent Muslim Brotherhood leader. In fact, Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns met with this leader last month. Are we beginning to see why?

Benghazi Hearing: ‘I Can’t Comment on That’ When Pickering Was Asked, If Benghazi Was a Botched Kidnapping Attempt

Walid Shoebat reported: Her name is Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and she sits on the House Oversight and Government Reform committee. She may have asked two of the most important questions at the September 19th hearing on Benghazi but they don’t appear to have been picked up. It was one of the lengthier hearings and her time was toward the end. Reps. Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordan, and Jason Chaffetz appeared to get the majority of what media attention there was in the questioning of the Accountability Review Board’s Co-Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen, but Lummis may have gotten the better of Thomas Pickering, the lead chairman on the ARB.

Pickering’s responses to both questions were incredibly revealing and one response appears to be in direct contradiction to witnesses / survivors of the attack.

First, Lummis asked Pickering if the Muslim Brotherhood, along with “Egyptian operatives”, were involved in the Benghazi attack. She cites documented evidence, which likely is a reference to what we introduced as EXHIBIT B in our “Ironclad report”. Pickering’s answer is particularly noteworthy because in one breath, he concedes that an Egyptian group was involved in the attack and says it was in the ARB’s report. The ARB Chairman then catches himself and said he “hope(d)” that such information was in the unclassified report.

Indications are that Pickering’s hopes may have been dashed. There are only two references to Egypt in the unclassified report. One has to do with a small bomb thrown at an Egyptian diplomat’s vehicle. The other has to do with a general reference to the “growing crises in Egypt and Syria”. Another term that cannot be found in the unclassified report is the “Jamal network”, the one group widely acknowledged to have been involved in the attack. As we wrote back in August, the two individuals who led the Jamal network – Tarek Taha Abu Al-Azm and Muhammad Jamal Abdo Al-Kashif – are both connected to the Muslim Brotherhood. Al-Azm was trained by the U.S. Air Force.

If Pickering was talking about the Jamal network, it is official – albeit unintentional – confirmation that a group with ties to the Mursi regime was involved in the Benghazi attack. If Pickering was talking about a different group, that compounds the problems for the Mursi regime.

While that may have been a significant gaffe, it’s not the biggest of Pickering’s two. Note that Lummis asks Pickering if Benghazi was about a plot to kidnap Christopher Stevens and that it went wrong. Initially, Pickering demurred saying, “I can’t comment on that.” Then, after several minutes, he decided to address it more fully. This may have been a serious political mistake. In particular, Pickering said…

“…they (the attackers) did not make a serious attempt to go into the closed area of the villa. It is not even sure, in my view, they knew the Ambassador was there.” {emphasis ours}

He then completed his statement by conceding that a kidnapping plot could have been a possible.

SEAL Team 6 UPDATE: Families Force Congress To Investigate Mysterious Chopper Crash

Although the Seal Team 6 may be the least known of the Obama’s scandals, it may rank as the largest atrocity.  We have an update to this story, thanks to Alex Jones and InfoWars.

InfoWars reports: Led by firebrand Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), Congress is to launch an official investigation into the mysterious helicopter crash that killed several members of the Navy SEAL team 6 in Afghanistan in 2011.

Back in May, the families of the SEALs went public with concerns that the Obama administration was at least partially responsible for the deaths of their sons.

The family members say that they still have not received satisfactory answers to their questions, and that there are still many inconsistencies and contradictions in the explanations they have been provided.

“We’re going to dive into this.” said Chaffetz, who is acting in his position as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on National Security.

30 Americans were killed in the crash on August 6, 2011 when insurgents shot down a U.S. military helicopter during fighting in eastern Afghanistan, making it the largest loss of life in a single incident for the U.S. military during the war. 22 of the victims belonged to the same unit as the Navy SEALS involved in the purported Osama Bin Laden operation, just three months earlier.

US military officials have maintained that none of the individuals involved directly in the Bin Laden mission were killed in the crash. However, sources have claimed that there were at least two SEALs who died on the chopper who had been involved in the Bin Laden raid.

Some of the families feel that the Obama administration’s handling of the death of Bin Laden made retaliatory attacks against SEAL Team 6 more likely. Family members have also expressed concerns that SEALS were sent into battle “without special operations aviation and proper air support.”

Chaffetz has said that he is preparing to send questions to the Pentagon and may hold congressional hearings on the issue. He noted that the families deserve answers: “That’s why you do an investigation. I want to be as factual as I can.” he said.

Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch, who is representing some of the families told reporters “This is a scandal even greater than Benghazi.”

“There we lost four valued American lives; here we sacrificed 30 American soldiers. The big question is were these brave Americans sold out by the Afghani government as payment to the Taliban for the death of bin Laden?” Klayman added.

Klayman’s questions stem from the fact that Afghani forces accompanying the Navy SEAL servicemen on the helicopter were most likely not properly vetted, meaning that they may have disclosed classified information to the Taliban about the mission, resulting in the shoot down of the helicopter.

Pentagon documents have confirmed that immediately prior to the take off of the helicopter, seven Afghan commandos who were listed on the passenger itinerary were mysteriously replaced by other Afghan military officials.

Defense officials have confirmed that all seven names of the Afghan soldiers on the passenger list did not tally with those on board when the chopper took to the air.

The families of the SEALs have noted that their sons did not have trust in Afghan soldiers, with one quoted as saying, “They are loyal to the highest bidder.”

Charlie Strange, the father of one of the killed SEALs also pointed out “There was no eye in the sky tracking [the Chinook]. Why not?”

In addition, pre-assault fire was requested by the team, but was denied by military officials on the ground.

“My son Michael died,” Strange said. “I want to know, who made these calls?”

The Pentagon probe into the shoot down denies that the incident was an “established ambush,” instead claiming that “it was a lucky shot of a low-level fighter that happened to be living [in the area]. He heard all the activity and he happened to be in the right spot.”

Families have countered those suggestions by pointing out that leading militants took to the internet in the immediate aftermath of the attack, to boast that they had successfully ambushed SEAL Team 6.

The Pentagon has also claimed that, despite recovering all the bodies of those killed, the helicopter’s black box was washed away in a flash flood.

The Pentagon told the families that all the bodies were cremated due to the fact that they were badly burned in the crash. However, pictures have emerged that show some deceased SEALs without bad burns.

“The body I saw didn’t need to be cremated,” Rep. Chaffetz said, also noting that the DoD’s explanation regarding the helicopter’s black box is “awfully odd.”

Perhaps even more controversially, family members have also provided evidence that suggests a Muslim cleric attended the funerals of the service members and disparaged them by “damning them as infidels to Allah” during an Islamic prayer.

Refusing to answer specific questions, a DoD spokesperson stated “the operational planning and execution of this mission was consistent with previous missions” and “was thoroughly investigated … we share in the grief of all of the families who lost their loved ones. The loss of 38 U.S. and Afghan military personnel was a tragic loss during a difficult campaign.”
